Achhut Kanya was released in 1936, Starring Ashok Kumar & Devika Rani. This film was based on caste Division in India, A beautiful love story between a lower caste girl and a brahmin boy. Songs were beautifully captured and Natural performance by Ashok Kumar makes this movie classic. Directed by Frenz Osten and Music by Saraswati Devi, This film was produced by Himanshu Rai of Bombay Talkies

This is the oldest survived Hindi film, so this film gets the right to be included in the best 100 list. Film was directed by V Shantaram and Casting included Govindrao Tembe , Durga Khote, Vinayak, Mohini, Barurao Prabhakar. Music by Govindrao Tembe and produced by Prabhat Film Company. This film was released in 1932.

99. ALAM ARA







This film released on 14th March 1931 gave words to Hindi Cinema. Directed by Adreshir M Irani and produced by Imperial Film Company was first talkie film of India. Print of this film is lost in fire but still this film is milestone of Hindi Cinema. Lead actors were Master Vithal, Zubeida, Prithviraj Kapoor and songs were mastered by Phiroz Shah Mistry, Screenplay by Munshi Zaheer. Hope someday we would see remake of this film.

100.RAJA HARISHCHANDRA


First Indian full length film produced & Directed by Dada Saheb Phalke was released on 3rd May 1913. It was silent era but this movie was first step in building the mighty Indian film Industry. Artists were mainly from theatre group, D Dabke, Balchandra Phalke, P.G. Sane, G.V. Sane, Dattatreya Kshirsagar, Dattatreya Telang, Ganpat G. Shinde, Vishnu Hari Aundhkar, Anna Salunke, Nath T. Telang. Camera work by Trymbak B. Telang. This film is lost and we will always be unfortunate to watch this movie.
